Epiphany Nights

Our current Epiphany Nights series takes place on Thursdays evenings at 6pm

So, what, exactly, is “Epiphany Nights?”

Well, exactly, it’s Grace in Community, Epiphany in Conversation. Yes, I mean all the puns. No, I’m not ducking the answer. We began with lots of folks with different styles and different questions wondering about similar things:

We talked about books - A Generous Orthodoxy, by Brian McLaren, and Blue Like Jazz, nonreligious thoughts on Christian spirituality, by Donald Miller, for example. And music - Wilco, Widespread Panic, Ian Brown, Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, U2, the Goo Goo Dolls, or songs from our various hymnals. We began sharing favorite or newly discovered websites - emergentvillage.org, thesimpleway.org, ship-of-fools.com, one.org, eenonline.org, etc.

And thus we began to gather to “re-imagine Christianity,” to experience God in everyday life, to study Scripture in a disciplined way, to watch movies, read books, think theologically, make music, enjoy good friends and good fun, and pray together.

This is a bit like Wikipedia. Wikipedia is communal, complex, and accurate because the structure facilitates participation, and people give their best to the entries and peer review process. “Wiki-Christianity” works because people show up and participate and give.
